The Youth Thing - Nordic community and cooperation between youth
Come and take part in The Youth Thing. Here you can meet other youths from around the North and get inspiration about how your association can work with cooperation across the Nordic Region.
As a participant at The Youth Thing, you can expect exciting workshops on project management, The Global Goals For Sustainable Development, democracy, Nordic cooperation, and current issues in the Nordic region. The Youth Thing is for you and your association if you want to build on the foundation of an existing cooperation project between young people in the Nordic Region or if you want tools to establish your own. There will be a good atmosphere, fun activities, dinner, and an opportunity to sing together. The Youth Thing is a great opportunity for you to get to know the Nordic countries and other young people from the Nordic region.
The theme of this year’s Youth Thing is "The Global Goals For Sustainable Development s - how do we achieve them democratically?". These global goals aim to tackle the biggest challenges facing the world. The goals are to be achieved by 2030 and were launched in 2015. We are halfway towards 2030, which is why we are taking stock of the goals and working on how the Nordic countries can contribute to achieving the goals. In the Nordic Region, we have a strong tradition of taking joint decisions on things. The tradition goes back to the 11th century when decisions were made by Viking peasants and noblemen at joint meetings. For this year's Youth Thing, we focus on Nordic democracy and how youth organizations can work together democratically to achieve The Global Goals For Sustainable Development. The workshops will be inspired by the ideas of Danish theologian Hal Koch, one of the founders of the Danish Youth Council.
As a participant you will gain
- Tools to work within or strengthen Nordic projects between youth organizations in the Nordic region.
- An understanding of how you and your association can work democratically with The Global Goals For Sustainable Development.
